My name is Laura,

I was born and raised in South Africa, and I travelled widely across the major continents including Europe, North America and South East Asia. I am now settled in an old cottage in Mid Wales with my family.

I learned sewing with my Mum and was making my own clothes by age 11. I had my first introduction to patchwork at school where I hand stitched a Hexagon Cushion for Mum, from that point on I was hooked.

I have always enjoyed all types of crafts and have completed many projects in card and jewellery making, cross stitch and silk ribbon embroidery but I am always drawn back to patchwork. My inspiration, ideas and love of fabrics are drawn from the cultures, landscapes, flora and fauna I encountered during my years of travel.

I took a Sampler Patchwork Course during the 90’s and from there I have continued to explore Patchwork and quilting in all its forms by participating in many workshops as well as designing quilts at home.

I am blessed to be part of a creative and supportive network of family and friends and remain a member of Clock Tower Quilters based where I used to live, visiting whenever time allows.

I now have my own students and run regular courses for new comers to quilting. But I mostly provide professional quilting services and individual commission work from our base at the edge of the beautiful Snowdonia National Park.
